Madaraka Day 2026: The First Day of Our Homeschool Journey

Date: 1st June 2026

Today was one of the most important and exciting days of my life. As Kenya celebrated Madaraka Day, my sister Wangari and I celebrated something special of our own—the beginning of our homeschooling journey.

For a long time, we dreamed of learning in a way that would help us improve our skills, especially in Mathematics and English. Today that dream became a reality.

Our day began with excitement as we arranged our classroom at home. We organized our desks, chairs, books, and learning materials. Seeing everything prepared made me feel like I was stepping into a brand-new chapter of my life.

One of the highlights of the day was meeting our new teacher, Teacher Annastasia. She was kind, welcoming, and encouraging. I immediately felt confident that she would help us overcome many of the challenges we have faced in our studies.

My father, Macharia Githinji, officially opened our homeschool program with an inspiring speech. He spoke about the importance of education, discipline, hard work, and believing in our dreams. His words reminded us why we chose this path and encouraged us to give our very best every day.

After the opening speech, we introduced ourselves and shared our goals. Everyone was happy and excited. The atmosphere was full of hope and expectation.

I am especially grateful because homeschooling will allow our teacher to spend more time helping me and my sister improve our Mathematics and English skills. These are subjects that are very important for my future dream of becoming an architect and learning more about structural engineering.

Before ending the day, Wangari and I made a promise to work hard, listen carefully, complete our assignments, and always strive for excellence.

As I look back on today, I feel proud and thankful. Madaraka Day celebrates freedom, and for me, this day also marks the freedom to learn, grow, and pursue my dreams with determination.

This is only the beginning, and I cannot wait to see what the future holds.

Happy Madaraka Day and Happy First Day of Homeschooling! 🇰🇪📚✨
